Macroplata is an extinct genus of pliosaur, it lived during the Early Jurassic Period. It was described by Swinton, in 1930. Macroplata grew up to 15 feet (4.5 meters) in length. It possessed needle-like teeth like many other pliosaurs.
Its neck was twice as long as its skull, its neck was relatively long. Its shoulder bones were fairly large, suggesting that this marine reptile had a powerful forward stroke, in combination with its streamed body, Macroplata was built for fast swimming.
